Matching attendees to email addresses

Google Meet shares names, not email addresses. Learn how Attensa finds each attendee’s email and what you can do when it shows “Email not shared by Google”.

Updated

On this page

Google Meet reports a display name for each participant but often no email address. Attensa fills in the email when it can, so that you can recognise people, send certificates to the right person, and handle privacy requests.

Where Attensa finds an email

  • The person is a guest on the meeting’s Google Calendar invite.
  • The person is in your Google contacts. Attensa looks up only people who appeared in your meetings; it does not copy your contact list.
  • The person is in your Google Workspace organization.
  • Once Attensa learns the email of someone who joins signed in to Google, it fills it in on their other meetings too.

When there is no email

Attendees Attensa cannot match show Email not shared by Google. Their name, join and leave times, and attendance are still recorded and counted.

How to get more matches

  1. Invite students to the Calendar event by email rather than sharing the Meet link only.
  2. Ask students to join signed in to their Google account, not as a guest.
  3. Add regular attendees to your Google contacts.
  • Connect Google: what each permission is used for
  • Attendee privacy and erasing an attendee
