Recurring sessions and class registers

Group a class that meets every week into one series and see a register of who was present, partly present, or absent on each day.

On this page

A session is a series of meetings that belong together, such as a weekly course. Open Sessions to see all your series, and select one for its class register.

Note

Whether recurring-session analytics are included depends on your plan. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.

How meetings are grouped

  • Attensa detects a series automatically when two or more of your meetings share a title. These show as Detected from Google.
  • Titles are compared ignoring capital letters, punctuation, and the words “Google Meet”, and a title also matches when one contains the other (for names of four or more characters).
  • You can also choose New session and enter the same name as the class in Google Calendar, then pick a cadence (Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly). Sessions you create by hand are saved in your browser, not on Attensa’s servers, so detected sessions are the more dependable option.

One class per day

All meeting records in a series that start on the same day count as one class, so an interrupted class is not counted several times.

Reading the register

The top of a session shows Classes held, Students, Average per class, Regulars, and At risk, followed by a class calendar, an attendance chart, and a grid with one row per student. Each square is one class day:

SquareMeaning
PresentPresent for at least 75% of that day’s class.
Partly presentJoined, but for less than 75% of the class.
AbsentDid not join that day.

Hover over a square for the times, or select a name for their full profile. Students are grouped like this:

GroupRule
RegularAttended at least 75% of the classes held.
At riskHas attended at least twice before but has missed each of the latest three classes (needs more than three classes held).
OccasionalAttended fewer than 75% of classes, without being at risk.
One-timeAttended exactly one class out of several.

Tip

Choose Open latest class on a session to jump straight to the most recent meeting.
