How the Google connection works
The difference between signing in with Google and the workspace connection, and how to sync, reconnect, or disconnect Google.
Updated
On this page
Google is the source of all your attendance. Attensa reads it through a connection between your workspace and one Google account.
Sign-in versus the workspace connection
| Kind | What it is | Who it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Proves who you are. Everyone signs in with Google, including members and invitees. | Every person |
| Workspace connection | The Google account whose Meet and Calendar data feeds the workspace. Attensa shows which account it is and who connected it. | One account per workspace, managed by the owner or an administrator |
For the person who creates a workspace, the two happen in the same step. If another administrator later signs in, that does not change which Google account the workspace uses.
The Integrations page
Where to find it: Integrations
- The status reads Connected during sign-in or Connection required, with the Google account and who connected it.
- Sync now imports new meetings immediately. Reconnect asks Google for permission again. Disconnect removes the connection.
- Cards for Google Meet, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Contacts show Authorized or Not authorized. What each permission is for is explained in Connect Google.
- Only the owner and administrators can sync, reconnect, or disconnect.
Disconnect Google
Choose Disconnect on Integrations. Attensa stops syncing and withdraws its access at Google. Meetings already imported stay in your workspace. You can reconnect at any time.
You can also review or remove Attensa’s access directly at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting your workspace or account also revokes Google access.
If the person who connected Google is removed
Removing a member who connected Google disconnects that Google account from the workspace, so it no longer feeds attendance. Reconnect with another account to continue. See Suspend, remove, and change roles.
If the connection expires
Google can end a grant, for example if the person changes their password or removes Attensa’s access. If it was your connection, Attensa signs you out and says your Google sign-in expired; sign in again to renew it. If it was someone else’s, the Integrations page says syncing resumes when that person signs in to Attensa again.
Note
Attensa only reads meetings organized by the connected Google account. Classes organized by someone else are not imported.
